In March 2016, our yarn manufacturer signed up to the Detox project promoted by Greenpeace. Aware of the importance of eliminating hazardous substances from the production cycle, the company has chosen a greener route. The aim is to respect the environment and safeguard the health of its customers and employees by using superior, environmentally compatible processes to manufacture high-quality, sustainable products in the best possible way. As part of this commitment, our yarn partner has undertaken to eliminate alkylphenols from the manufacturing process. Alkylphenols are used in many textile applications and emissions are found in both freshwater and saltwater. The risks to human health are still not entirely clear, but recent studies have shown that direct risks to humans can no longer be excluded. Current estimates implicate alkylphenols in as many as 3,000 cases of groundwater pollution.
